Fundraising Results: $70,000 and friendly bike ride for L’Arche de la Capitale-Nationale
Quebec City, September 15, 2021— Today, Quebec City and Beneva, born of La Capitale and SSQ Insurance, applaud the city’s business people for their generosity towards L’Arche de la Capitale-Nationale, an organization that works with people with intellectual disabilities. They raised $10,000 to which the Fondation Maurice-Tanguay added $50,000. Quebec City and Beneva each donated $5,000 to the charity for a grand total of $70,000.
In addition to cash donations, many contributors took part in today’s bike ride, which was made possible by the Réseau de transport de la Capitale who provided 100 electric bikes from its bike-sharing service, àVélo.
The 5K ride began at 1:30 p.m. in front of the L’Arche de la Capitale-Nationale, in the Saint-Sauveur district, and ended at the Hôtel de ville de Québec (city hall). The cyclists were able to try firsthand the new bikes that will be made available to the general population and tourists through the city’s bike-sharing service.
“This is a great day for all the dedicated people at L’Arche de la Capitale-Nationale who deserve our admiration and gratitude,” said Régis Labeaume, Mayor of Quebec City. “For over 14 years, the business community’s commitment to Quebec City’s charitable organizations, who play a vital role in our social fabric, never ceases to amaze me. I thank them all as well as Jean-François Chalifoux and Olivier Tanguay who didn’t hesitate to lend a hand in support of L’Arche. “
“As honorary co-chairman, I’m extremely pleased with the fundraising campaign. Guided by 75 years of social values, Beneva is committed to contributing to the community’s well-being. The amounts raised for the L’Arche de la Capitale-Nationale will definitely have a positive impact on its users. I want to thank all those who donated,” said Jean‑François Chalifoux, President and CEO of Beneva.
“It’s an honour to be able to contribute to L’Arche de la Capitale-Nationale whose dedicated staff provides fulfilling life experiences to people with intellectual disabilities,” said Olivier Tanguay, General Manager of the Fondation Maurice-Tanguay.
“The generosity demonstrated by everyone who participated in this electrifying activity is proof that our cause is something people care about. The less fortunate often don’t have a voice to express themselves, but today they are being heard,” said Érik Pirro, Director of the L’Arche de la Capitale-Nationale .
