Employee Assistance Program: Beneva expands its offering to small and medium sized enterprises
Quebec City, March 26, 2024—Small and medium sized enterprises (SME) insured by Beneva can now benefit from its Employee Assistance Program (EAP) offering in partnership with Telus Health. The enhanced offering comes in the wake of a report conducted by Beneva in conjunction with Mental Health Research Canada (MHRC), which revealed that of the one-third of Canadians with access to an EAP, most (57%) would turn to it for mental health assistance over their group health insurance coverage.
For SMEs, the goal of EAPs is to help prevent and protect against the mental and physical health concerns of employees by giving them access to essential support tools as well as a wide range of resources.
Improved support
“Mental health is a major societal issue, and EAPs are designed to help address and manage urgent needs and serve as a kind of safety net. As an insurer with expertise in workplace health solutions, Beneva’s health and wellness initiative is guided by its purpose to provide flexible, caring support to all insureds as well as help provide peace of mind,” says Brigitte Marcoux, National Director, Practice Excellence and Wellness – Group Insurance at Beneva.
“EAPs are a critical part of the mental health infrastructure in Canada—helping reduce stigma, helping navigate mental health systems, and serving as a first line of engagement for many struggling with mental health issues. EAPs should be available to more Canadians and more Canadians should better understand what these services can do for them,” says Akela Peoples, President and CEO, Mental Health Research Canada.
