Bernard Tanguay
Director
Mr. Tanguay holds a Bachelor's Degree in Actuarial Science and is a Fellow of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries. He also completed the Executive Development Program at HEC’s Centre international de recherches et d'études en management, followed by a university certification in corporate governance, earning the Certified Corporate Director (CCD) designation.
He began his career at Desjardins, where he held various actuarial and management positions. Guided by a strong commitment to working in an environment firmly rooted in the values of cooperation and mutualism, Mr. Tanguay transitioned to SSQ. He spent nearly 20 years there as a Senior Actuarial Manager, later becoming Vice President of Actuarial at SSQ Group Insurance. He pursued his career at SSQ Investment and SSQ Insurance, where he held the position of Executive Vice President until 2016.
Mr. Tanguay has leveraged his expertise by serving on various boards of directors, including Montrusco Bolton, Assumption Life and Louisbourg Investments. He also chaired the Pension Committee of the Pension Plan of Management Personnel (PPMP) for six years and has been serving as a Director on the FlexiFonds Board since 2019.
In July 2022, Mr. Tanguay was appointed Director of SSQ Mutual and continues his mandate on the Board of Directors of Beneva Mutual, which was established in January 2024, as well as on Beneva’s Board of Directors. He is also a member of the Investment Committee as well as the Risk, Ethics and IT Management Committee.
